About ONE EYE
ONE EYE系列的第一张照片，来自于1988年安尚秀为一本杂志《报告书/报告书》的封面所提供的自拍肖像照。他选择将一只手遮住一侧眼睛, 另一只手捂住嘴，为肖像设计出一个独立在五官表情之外的特别表达。
起初安尚秀的目的与意识并不强烈，更多的是出于“有趣”，渐渐地，这件原本轻松的事情在滚动中承载上林林总总的人生痕迹和丰富多样的生命故事。20多年来，由一个没有目的、并不强调收获的初衷所引发的游戏行为，在经年累月的坚持中酝酿发酵，成为今天能够赋予生活以力量，分享正面情感的“人与人之间的项目”。
ONE EYE在轻松、即时、互动中不断繁衍成长，成为今天多达三万张作品的数量累积，也成为安尚秀每天日常生活的一部分，更是一个符号，一种通用的语言。
这一系列以时间和生命谱写的“行为摄影”，提供了一种观看世界之道。在ONE EYE里，每一个参与者回归到观看这个最初的认知方式。他们是一目了然的观看者，因各自的经历、心态与阅历而回应和表达；他们同时也是被观看者，作为一种特殊的视觉形象——景观而存在，与之共存的还有个体的生命故事、精神气质。我们尝试在ONE EYE轻松亲切的氛围里，一目了然的阅读人的世界，寻找人性之光。
20多年来，ONE EYE一直在行进，从创作中萌发，在生活中成长，而又最后整合回归到创作的形态。本次展览是ONE EYE第一次通过美术馆向公众进行展示。
The first photo in the ONE EYE project is a self-portrait of ahn.sang-soo which was published as a magazine cover in the bogoseo/bogoseo in 1988. In it, he covered his one eye with his hand and covered his mouth with another hand. He found that besides by facial expression, he could express himself in this way which created a special effect. Later on, when ahn.sang-soo takes similar photos, he asks participants whom he meets by accident to pose in the same way. At the very beginning, he takes photos for pleasure and doesn't expect any outcome. Gradually, in the process of taking photos, ahn.sang-soo has a growing feeling. He feels that people are relating this gesture with their experience. These photos are unique and meaningful because they are endowed with participants' lives and comprehension. In a relaxing, simultaneous and interactive environment, the ONE EYE project is growing. For the last 20 years, this sportful behavior which neither set goals nor focus on results at first, while brewing and fermenting during the long time, becomes an interpersonal project that can endow lives with power and share positive emotion today. It is not only a part of ahn.sang-soo's daily life, but also like a symbol and a universal language. Up to now, there are 30,000 photos.
This project can be described as "conceptual photography" which is made up by two important elements- time and life. In the ONE EYE project, looking is of upmost importance. On one hand, every participant sees the world with one eye, then, they make their response based on different experience and attitudes. ahn once said "To see the world, one eye is enough." Therefore, it is an original mode for people to feel the world. On the other hand, existing as special visual image-landscapes, they are seen by other people. They are individuals who have their own life stories and spirit. In a relaxing and cordial atmosphere, we try to observe the world and seek the glory of humanity.
For the past two decades, the ONE EYE has been proceeding. It germinates from ahn's artistic work, grows in the daily life and integrates into the form of creation. This is the first time to be exhibited at art gallery for the ONE EYE.
